Events Young Africa Centre x Congolese Roots Presents: Congolese Book Club “I know that you can die twice. First comes physical death... to be forgotten is a second death,” these are the words from Andree Blouin’s daughter, Eve, in the epilogue of her mother’s autobiography. Andrée Blouin was a writer, political activist, and human rights advocate from the Central African Republic. Although she is not Congolese, she was Patrice Lumumba’s right-hand woman and played a vital role in the struggle for independence. Andrée’s book, My Country, Africa: Autobiography of the Black Pasionaria, recounts her experience in a colonial orphanage, her arranged marriage, and her role as an adviser to Congo’s first president. As it is International Women’s Month, join us on Friday, 21st March at 6pm at The Africa Centre as we delve into this remarkable book. This is a ticketed event and the proceeds will support those affected by the genocide in Goma. Booking for this event has now closed. Book Manage Cookie Preferences
