Celebrate Black History Month 2024 by getting on board the inaugural Black Joy Bus — a rollicking new fixture in the cultural calendar celebrating Black communities across the UK and beyond. Taking place on Saturday October 12th, the Black Joy Bus will travel across London, taking in lesser known landmarks, alongside locations of significance to Black cultures.

From Hackney Empire, Chiswick to Shepherds Bush to Windrush Square, The Black Joy Bus will offer a fabulous journey of discovery, staging creative interventions along the way.

Created by Kayza Rose with a view to celebrating Black cultures, history and creativity — this is one ride you won’t want to miss!

The Black Joy Bus is a multilayered project focusing on Black Joy. Created as a response to the need to keep Black Joy joyful, it is a safe space for celebration and immersion in Black cultures and the start of a contemporary archive. The Black Joy Bus expertly combines heritage and cultural programming, community leader celebration and corporate partnerships to allow for a specifically curated event that will appeal to a wide audience.

As they disembark the bus the invited attendees are then joined at The Africa Centre by other Black community members and their allies, culminating in an evening programme curated to open up the celebration to a wider audience through a panel discussion, deejay, and a musical artist, offering something for everyone, encouraging social play and cross-generational shared experiences. This event celebrates the African Diaspora and will be a fusion of cultural networking, and a celebratory event - powered by Adidas to demonstrate how cultural and commercial support can amplify and sustain Black projects.
