Named after the isiXhosa word for joy, UVUYO showcases a host of the UK’s finest African diaspora selectors, curated by AUKA (Viva Msimang). For our first edition, we are delighted to welcome: TryB Local heavy-weight selector TryB has exploded with energy across the UK and European scene, hosting the Highlife and Sunshine Show on NTS, Enter the Party on Oroko Radio, and TryB and Friends on Voices Radio. Known for her blend of diasporic sounds, she has proven that no matter the genre, TrYb will be setting levels. Loose Egoosi The Loose Egusi Afro Disco is a travelling party and radio show dedicated to all types of African music, celebrating the histories and futures of African traditional, popular, and experimental music, alongside the vast array of music generated from across the Black diaspora. Armed with his deep collection, indestructible rhythms, and an infectious energy, the writer, journalist, and longtime selector Repeat Beat Poet (The Boat Pod, Soho Radio) carries his joyful resistance and potent funk to every dancefloor. AUKAFormer Worldwide FM resident AUKA’s bass-heavy, percussive sound celebrates the mighty continents of Africa, South America, and the beating heart of the diaspora. Her deep bags of global heaters have garnered appreciation from the UK circuit to Santiago CHIL, Dubai UAE, and beyond. She has hosted shows on Balamii Radio and Foundation FM alongside her work as a founder, curator, audio-visual artist, and trombonist.
