Chakula x TRANSHOOD (Workshop exploring Afrofuturism and Transness)

Join us for a workshop exploring Afrofuturism and Transness. This workshop will follow the screening of the Beyond The Aggressives: 25 Years Later (2023)and will be facilitated by Cash Nahuo Webster from TRANSHOOD.

This second workshop will delve into Afrofuturism and transness, centering the presence of Black trans bodies in a future beyond erasure. Participants will explore the impact of underrepresentation in today’s media and envision a future where Black trans people thrive, unburdened by misogynoir, transphobia, and anti-Blackness.

After this exploration, participants will craft postcards to their future selves, using a current image to reimagine their journey ahead. These postcards can be mailed or taken home as a symbol of the future they are destined to create

About TRANSHOOD

TRANSHOOD is an anti-disciplinary black trans lesbian-led resource, community & voice, dedicated to uplifting and platforming those of black trans experience. The initiative was founded in 2024, by Cash Nahuo Webster, a black trans-masculine lesbian from South London who seeks to create intentional, playful and resourceful spaces for black trans people to connect, share and explore the spectrum of their identities whilst receiving access to gender-affirming resources. TRANSHOOD will host a series of black trans lesbian-led events, ranging from workshops, socials, and forums, in an effort to connect an ever-growing community.
