Events Book Launch - Time Tub Travellers An evening to celebrate the launch of Claire's second children's book, Time Tub Travellers: Circus Mystery and explore the life of one of the most fascinating, and yet relatively unknown Victorians, Pablo Fanque, Britain's first Black circus owner. At 7pm there will be a discussion with the author about the life of Pablo Fanque, the world of the Victorian Circus, the importance of highlighting Black British history and how the arts is a critical tool to do this. This will be followed by a book reading and Q&A. Speakers Yeside Linney was born in Nigeria and educated in England. Since retiring from teaching secondary school English literature she has become an award-winning artist. Mostly self-taught she focuses on semi representational landscapes and vibrant abstracts. She also uses these to develop an ongoing visual autobiography, examining sense of identity through the conflict of British education and her denied Nigerian heritage. Claire Linney worked in marketing for over twenty years, until stumbling across Black Tudors: The Untold story inspired her to want to bring the too often hidden stories of Black British history to life for the next generation. She is passionate about the need for more stories highlighting people of African descent throughout British history and advocating for diverse representation in children's literature. Her debut children's book Time Tub Travellers and the Silk Thief won the Ink Book Prize and is Shortlisted for the Selfies. Booking for this event has now closed. Book Manage Cookie Preferences
