Events Book Launch - Ben Okri's Anthology African Stories Join us for the launch of Ben Okri's Anthology African Stories at The Africa Centre Award-winning writer Ben Okri, author of the Booker Prize-winning novel The Famished Road, curates this one-volume overview of classic stories of Africa, past and present. This collection includes stories by contemporary voices like Jamal Mahjoub and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie along with a pantheon of greats from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, including Chinua Achebe, Doris Lessing, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, Nadine Gordimer, Bessie Head, Ousmane Sembène, J. M. Coetzee, and Abdulrazak Gurnah and many more. About the Author Sir Ben Okri (Editor) is a poet, novelist, short story writer, essayist and playwright. His novel The Famished Road won the Booker Prize for fiction in 1991. His works have been translated into more than twenty-seven languages. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and won numerous international prizes, including the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Africa, the Aga Khan Prize for Fiction and the Chianti Rufino-Antico Fattore. He is a Vice-President of the English Centre of International PEN and was presented with a Crystal Award by the World Economic Forum. He is a recipient of many honorary doctorates and is an honorary fellow of Mansfield College, Oxford. He was born in Nigeria and lives in London. In 2023 he was knighted for services to literature.
