Dr. King SMADE, Founder of SMADE Entertainment Group and Co-Founder of Afro Nation, will run the 2026 London Marathon to raise £100,000 for The Africa Centre’s emergency fundraising campaign. Titled Run for The Africa Centre, the initiative supports the UK’s leading African cultural institution as it faces significant financial pressures.

The campaign combines culture, fitness, and community, inviting supporters worldwide to join through “Run With SMADE,” a virtual run club, alongside community runs, a symbolic African & Caribbean Embassy Unity Run, a marathon vest design competition, and a curated Afrobeats and Amapiano training playlist.

Funds will be raised through community fundraising, cultural activations, and corporate sponsorship to help secure the Centre’s future for the next 60 years.

I started with house parties in London, trying to give our community a space to come together. The Africa Centre has been doing that since before I was born," said SMADE

Originally conceived to foster non-governmental relations between newly independent Africa and Britain, the Africa Centre has since evolved into a forward-thinking, inclusive, and respected cultural institution that promotes positive conversations about Africa. Our mission is to educate, connect and advocate for Africa and its diaspora.

We are committed to serving as custodians of Africa's cultural heritage in London and beyond. Empowering communities and accelerating cultural diversity and equality through collaboration and strategic partnerships. Our programmes are relevant and impactful, addressing the needs and expectations of our diverse communities and transforming lives
